A Frostburg woman was killed and three others suffered unknown injuries following a three-vehicle crash early Friday afternoon on state Route 956 east of Waxler Road, according to the Mineral County Sheriff’s Office.

Kelly M. Dent, 36, died of injuries following the 1:33 p.m. crash after being admitted to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Also taken to the hospital were Brian S. Haddix, 21, of Fort Ashby; James D. Ott, 32, of Ridgeley, and Ryan Morgan, 27, of Cumberland.

No information was available concerning their injuries or medical conditions.

Police said Haddix was operating a Jeep Liberty westbound on Route 956 when his vehicle swerved out of control off the road and then back onto the highway where it struck an eastbound Chevrolet Cavalier operated by Dent.

Upon impact, the Dent vehicle traveled down a small embankment where it struck a tree.

The Haddix vehicle then struck head-on an eastbound GMC Sierra truck driven by Ott that was traveling behind the Dent vehicle, police said.

The accident remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office.
