Frostburg Man Arrested After Barricade Situation

Early Wednesday, at about 4 AM, a Frostburg Police Officer was flagged down by a subject at a Center Street residence regarding a domestic assault. Through investigation it was learned that a male subject had assaulted a female, and proceeded to use a baseball bat to destroy parts of the residence. The suspect also made comments to a friend of the female that he possessed a knife and baseball bat.

Additional police units from the FSU Police Department, Allegany County Sheriff's Office and Maryland State Police responded to assist after the suspect refused to answer the door, and due to a possible barricade situation. After approximately 15 minutes, the suspect complied with requests and opened the door. He was taken into custody, without incident.

The suspect was identified as Ronnie William Swancey, 29 years of age, of Frostburg.

Swancey was charged with Assault – 2nd Degree. He is awaiting an Initial Appearance at District Court.
