Frostburg Officer Injured In Saturday Night Incident

October 1st, 2018 by WCBC Radio

On Saturday at 12:35 a.m., a Frostburg City Police officer was on patrol in the 100 block of Hill Street. The officer encountered a large party and crowd blocking the roadway, which slowed his attempt to respond to a call for service. As the officer was travelling through the crowd, someone intentionally hit the officer’s patrol car with their hand. The officer exited his patrol car and attempted to disperse the crowd.

While ordering persons in the area to leave, two females remained in the area. One of them, identified as Reagan Danae Wills, 19, of Prince Frederick, was making loud remarks toward police and laughing loudly instead of leaving the area. The officer approached her and instructed her to provide her identification. She then attempted to walk away from the officer. The officer attempted to detain her for investigation. A second female, identified as Jamie Nicole Hamilton, 19, of Ridge, MD then grabbed the police officer with both hands and attempted to pull him away from detaining Wills.

The officer told Hamilton that she was under arrest, and Hamilton attempted to flee the scene. The officer chased her, and he was able to restrain and attempt to arrest her. Hamilton then resisted arrest and threw her elbows around as the officer was trying to restrain her.

While the officer was attempting to arrest Hamilton, Wills ran toward the officer in an aggressive manner, but the officer was briefly able to fend her off.

Hamilton and Wills then both began attacking the officer with their fists and with nearby flower pots. Wills got on the officer’s back with her arms around his neck as the officer continued to attempt the arrests. Hamilton then fled, and the officer was able to subdue and arrest Wills at the scene. Other officers located and arrested Hamilton a few blocks away.

Wills and Hamilton were each charged with resisting arrest, second-degree assault, and underage possession of alcohol. Both were transported to a District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance and were released on recognizance, pending trial.

The officer sustained minor injuries from the assaults.

I hope they get jail time. These young people don’t know how to let police do their jobs. They are lucky to be alive.

First off do these girls not understand the issues with police right now? They could have died! Also what kind of friend is that? She fled while the other was on his back? Throwing flower pots?! At a cop?! These girls need a serious wake up call & I hope the judge gives them just that!
