Frostburg Residents Say University Violence Growing

In April of last year, a Frostburg State University student opened fire on two fellow students, killing one and critically injuring the other. Early Sunday morning, Kortneigh McCoy, a 19-year-old physics major, was stabbed outside an off-campus residence by fellow student  Shanee Liggins, 23, of Waldorf.  Although the relationship between the community and FSU students has seemingly improved in recent years, many longtime residents say that vandalism, along with students drinking, druging and being involved in incidents of violence occurs on a regular basis.  University officials say they still consider Frostburg to be a safe community.
