Frostburg State Cancels Classes Friday, Halts Athletics

March 12th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

Frostburg State University President Ron Nowaczyk was a guest on the WCBC Morning Show Thursday before returning to campus for a series of meetings about the COVID-19 virus.  Later in the day, Dr. Nowaczyk issued the following statement:

"As many know, the Governor took additional actions late this afternoon.   Given the cautions regarding large numbers of individuals within state buildings we have decided to cancel classes tomorrow, Friday March 13.   Advice and policy on his other actions that impact faculty and staff will be developed and shared campuswide consistent with the Chancellor’s recommendations (found at this link) as soon as possible.

Also, over the past 36 hours, I have been in several meetings regarding NCAA athletics. The Mountain East Conference schools have decided to suspend NCAA athletic events and practices. Effective Friday, March 13, Frostburg State University will suspend all athletic activity until further notice. This information has been conveyed to our student-athletes.

As we monitor the COVID-19 situation in Maryland, we will share additional information affecting the FSU community.

Please be safe.
