Frostburg Woman Arrested In Stabbing Incident

On Thursday, 11/19/2015, at approximately 9:30 AM, Frostburg Police responded to a reported stabbing at 145 E. College Ave. When Officers arrived, they found the 30 year old victim suffering from a stab wound to the back. EMS personnel arrived shortly after and began treating the victim prior to transporting him to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center for further treatment.

The Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) was contacted and responded to the scene to assist in the investigation. The scene was processed by an Evidence Collection Technician with the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Unit.

C3I Investigators interviewed witnesses and learned the suspect became involved in an argument with the victim and stabbed the victim in the back. The suspect then fled the scene.

Investigators were able to identify the suspect as 25 year old Melissa McAteer of Frostburg. McAteer was located by C3I Investigators and placed under arrest.

McAteer was charged with 1st Degree Assault, 2nd Degree Assault and Reckless Endangerment. McAteer was taken before a District Court Commissioner and was held on $45,000 bond.
