Allegany County State’s Attorney Mike Twigg  along with Allegany County Narcotics Task Force, announced on Tuesday Melissa Irene Cannon, Frostburg, pled guilty to possession with intent to distribute Oxycodone in the Circuit Court for Allegany County.

The Honorable Jeffrey S. Getty, Circuit Court Judge for Allegany County, sentenced Cannon to four years’ incarceration, with three years of the term suspended, in the Maryland Department of Corrections. Upon Cannon’s release, she will serve three years supervised probation.

The case was the result of an investigation, conducted by members of the Allegany County Narcotics Unit, into the distribution of opioid based prescription pills. During the investigation, Detectives executed a search and seizure warrant in the 100 block of East Mechanic Street, Frostburg in February, 2016. A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of Oxycodone, an opioid pain medication, in sufficient quantity to indicate sales and distribution.
