Frostburg’s Mans Death Ruled A Homicide

Maryland State Police criminal investigators have been notified that the cause and manner of death of a man found deceased in early January in a rural area of Garrett County have been determined. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has notified Maryland State Police Homicide Unit investigators that the death of Alexander A. Stevens, 24, of Frostburg, Md., was caused by sharp force injuries to the neck.  The manner of his death was determined to be homicide. 

The body of Alexander A. Stevens, 24, of Frostburg, Md., was found shortly after 9:30 a.m. on January 4, 2017, on a logging road in a wooded area of the 2600-block of Pine Swamp Road, Barton, Md.  The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit responded to lead the investigation into his death.

The investigation into the death of Stevens is continuing.  Details will not be released until the conclusion of the on-going investigation. 

No charges have been filed at this time.  No arrests have been made.  The Maryland State Police does not identify possible suspects prior to charges being placed. 

Based on the information and evidence collected at this point in the investigation, Maryland State Police investigators believe this is an isolated incident.  Troopers do not believe there is an ongoing threat to public safety in that area.
