FSU student organization requests COVID-19 test site in Allegany County

August 1st, 2020 by WCBC Radio

The Cumberland Times News reports as thousands of students prepare to return to Frostburg State University Aug. 17, a letter that requests a state-run COVID-19 test site in Allegany County is headed to Gov. Larry Hogan’s office. Westernport resident Noah DeMichele, president of FSU’s Student Government Association, wrote the letter because he and many other folks at the campus are concerned about slowing the spread of the highly contagious virus.

FSU's plans to minimize COVID-19 risks include on-site testing for students throughout the fall semester, and universal testing of students, faculty and staff at the beginning of the semester.

According to guidelines announced by the University System of Maryland on Thursday, all students returning to campuses for the fall semester must test negative for the new coronavirus within 14 days of their arrival, and provide university officials with confirmation of the result.

As of Friday, a site locator on the Maryland Health Department’s website showed testing facilities in multiple locations across the state, but none in Allegany County.

Thanks You Noah Demichele. At least someone has the welfare of the county citizenry at heart. The question is, WHY does it come down to an average joe to initiate what most definitely should have been the RESPONSIBILITY of our elected officials? Of course it may be that they DO NOT want the testing made available to the public, thereby not documenting the real number of infections in our area. This is just another example of “puppet” government officials who are more concerned with submission to the “puppet master Donald”, then they are to the lives and wellbeing of constituents, people who are their family, friends, neighbors. Do you remember when TRAITORTRUMP would not allow the cruise ship of infected citizens to dock, or “slooowww the testing down” to skew the numbers. I am anxious to see the real numbers, if and when they initiate testing, you know how they like to evade and bury the truth in our local government.

We would have a lot fewer people with high cholesterol if doctors didn’t require the lipid panel in your blood work.

Another thank you to Noah DeMichele. If and when the State does designate a testing site they had better stay away from UPMC as they have Covid-19 infections there already.

The uneducated opinions only reinforce the narrow minded thinking of people in this community.

There have been been testing sites offered in the Tri-State area and the staff at UPMC have been doing an amazing job to serve the community.

The administration making this decision may have a degree, but no common sense!

No! NO! Don’t you all know that testing means they’ll be MORE cases of infected people! Stop the test and the covid disappears! Yours truly, Donald ‘the moron’ Trump
