FSU Summit On Economic Development

February 13th, 2017 by WCBC Radio

The city of Frostburg and Frostburg State University are taking new steps to boost economic development in the area, and attract new businesses. Last week officials gathered for a target industry analysis presentation, put on by Texas-based Site Selection Group. The report included suggested industries suited for the region, with a focus on high-paying jobs suited for graduates from local colleges, like both Frostburg State and Allegany College of Maryland. WHAG TV reports consultants said the sectors most likely to grow are financial services, information technology and science-based jobs. They added that it's rare to have both a four-year state college and a two-year community college in a rural area.
