Fugitive Apprehended in Westernport

On Wednesday, Deputies from the Allegany County Sheriff's Office assisted by a Detective from the C3I Fugitive Unit responded to Walnut St. in Westernport after receiving information that a fugitive who has eluded capture on four (4) warrants for nearly a month was in a residence in the 200 block of Walnut St.  Based on witness statements and surveillance, law enforcement determined that the fugitive was in the residence.  Three K9 Units from the Cumberland Police Department were requested and responded to assist.  After nearly ninety (90) minutes of searching the residence and surrounding area, two of the CPD K9s, "Barney" and "Elmo" along with their handlers located the fugitive hiding in a hole in the dirt in the crawl space of the residence having covered himself with blankets.

     Arrested without further incident was Keith Franklin Douglass (picture attached), 33 years old (Westernport) who was served with following charges:

(1) Bench Warrant, Failure to Appear (original charge: Obstructing and Hindering), held on $20,000
(2) Arrest Warrant, Violation of a Protective Order, held on $20,000
(3) Arrest Warrant, Attempted 1st degree arson/Violation of Protective Order, held without bail.
(4) Arrest Warrant issued in Garrett County charging DOUGLASS with Violation of a Protective Order, was lodged as a detainer at the Allegany County Detention Center.

     The Allegany County Sheriff's Office would like to thank everyone who assisted in this investigation and provided information that led to this apprehension.
