Future Of Bridges Up In The Air

The future of bridges on Cumberland, Greene, Fayette and Washington streets remain very much up in the air- with two of those structures  (Washington and Cumberland streets) already closed. The bridges are believed to be the property of CSX Transportation and that company has performed some repairs and maintenance over the years- indication that to be the case. However, despite recent meetings between Cumberland and CSX that reportedly went well- to date, neither the city nor CSX have claimed ownership of the bridges. The debate over ownership has gone unresolved for years. City Administrator Jeff Rhodes tells WCBC News that although the city firmly believes CSX owns the bridges, unfortunately there is no paperwork to support that claim…
