Although the parent company is going through bankruptcy proceedings, Luke Mill Manager Richard Watro told the Allegany County Commissioners last night that the local operation remains in a strong position moving forward. NewPage, which filed for bankruptcy last year, owns the Luke paper mill. The Commissioners conducted Thursday’s regular meeting at the Luke Town Hall- which sits directly across from the Mill. Watro says that the plant employs 870 people- and additional hires and capital investment are signs that the future remains bright for the last of the area’s true “smoke stack” industries…
