Maryland Attorney General Doug Gansler said the series of inmate assaults on correctional officers in the state’s prison system is something that cannot be tolerated. Just this past Monday an officer at the North Branch Correctional Institution near Cresaptown was stabbed five times by an inmate- and the union has called for at least three supervisors to be terminated as a result. Gansler, a democrat who is planning to run for governor next year, says that he believes there should be further investigation and that ultimately someone should be held accountable…
