An alleged assault Monday afternoon involving a handgun led to the arrest of a Grantsville man in Allegany County later in the day, according to Maryland State Police.

No shots were fired in the 2 p.m. incident that reportedly took place in the 17500 block of Bittinger Road in Grantsville. The Cumberland Times News reports the location is reportedly the address of the accused, who was identified as 33-year-old Jarrod Olen Wilburn, who was charged with first- and second-degree assault, use of a firearm in commission of a crime of violence, illegal possession of a handgun and having a handgun on his person, police said.

Following a bond hearing, Wilburn remained jailed Tuesday in the Allegany County Detention Center on $45,000 bond, pending bail review in district court.

Investigation determined Wilburn allegedly assaulted the victim and slammed a .25-cal. semi-automatic handgun into the victim’s hand.

Wilburn reportedly left the area before troopers arrived.

A warrant was obtained for Wilburn who was arrested Monday at an unspecified location in Allegany County.

The victim apparently did not require medical treatment.
