Garrett County Seeing Surge In Tourism

Garrett County experienced a record year for tourism in 2016 and is outpacing the state’s tourism growth by 2.6 percent so far in fiscal year 2017. The county, including the Deep Creek Lake area, had a 3.6 percent increase in accommodations sales, a 7 percent increase in occupied rental homes, hotel and motels, and a 2.3 percent increase in sales tax collections last year.
