Gas price decline slowing

August 13th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

The summer slide at the pump is slowing nationwide and in Maryland.  The national average price for regular unleaded gasoline is $2.13 per gallon today, which is 27 cents below 2016’s peak price to date of $2.40 on June 11. Today’s price is one cent more than one week ago, 10 cents less than one month ago and 46 cents less than the same date last year.

Maryland’s average price is six cents less than the nationwide price at $2.07 per gallon. The state average is a penny less than last week’s price, 15 cents less than one month ago and 50 cents per gallon lower than this time last year. While the state average and many metro areas across the state continue to trend downward, Salisbury’s average has risen over the last week by five cents. Despite the rise, Salisbury continues to remain the least expensive metro area in Maryland to purchase gasoline.
