Gas Prices Soar toward $3

spending at the pump. Drivers could potentially see prices continue rising a few cents more as the holiday comes and goes.

Maryland’s average price, along with the Baltimore and Frederick Metro areas, is two cents away from the $3.00 per gallon mark, while the average cost for the Maryland suburbs of Washington has already exceeded that benchmark.  Cumberland prices are actually below the state average, standing at $2.93, a four cent hike over last week.

The state average cost at the pump is a penny higher than the national average at $2.98 per gallon, which is eight cents more than last week, up 21 cents from last month, and 61 cents more than last year on this date.
