DBED Secretary Promises Attention to Permitting Delays

June 5th, 2015 by WCBC Radio

Getting little satisfaction in face to face meetings with the Maryland State Highway Administration on the subject of permitting delays- Allegany County Commissioners President Bill Valentine brought the issue to the attention of the state’s economic development chief on Thursday. During a question and answer session with Secretary of Business and Economic Development Michael Gill at the regular meeting of the Greater Cumberland Committee- Valentine provided details of three separate projects that have been derailed, or at least significantly delayed by what the county believes to be unnecessary SHA regulations. Gill promised Valentine that he would personally look into each case, and is optimistic that a suitable compromise can be reached to allow the projects to move forward.
