Gov. Hogan Announces Initiatives To Improve Accountability MD Public Schools

January 9th, 2018 by WCBC Radio

Governor Larry Hogan Monday announced a series of legislative and administrative initiatives to improve accountability in Maryland’s K-12 public schools.

Hogan addressed the dire consequences of a bill passed in the last legislative session.

Due to last session’s “Protect Our Schools Act,” Governor Hogan says Maryland has the second weakest education accountability system in the country by counting academic performance at just 65 percent, whereas most states have academic performance measures between 75 and 95 percent.
