Gov. Hogan Announces Legislation Adding $4.4 Billion In Casino Revenue Into Schools

The Florida school shooting that resulted in the deaths of 17 last month has sparked discussion on gun laws and school safety across the country. In Maryland, Governor Larry Hogan announced legislation that would add an additional $4.4 billion from state casino revenues into schools and $1 billion of that into school construction. Hogan says $125 million of that will go towards security cameras and other similar measures. Also, $50 million a year is budgeted to fund more counselors and school resource officers. In Allegany County there are 8 school resource officers who rotate between the 21 public schools.
