Hampshire County man killed in U.S. 50 crash

The Cumberland Times News reports a Capon Bridge man suffered fatal injuries Wednesday when his automobile collided head-on with a tractor-trailer operated by a Keyser man on U.S. Route 50, according to West Virginia State Police. Howard Preston Russell Jr., 39, was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident occurred at 2 p.m. near Frontier Communications near Vanderlip when an eastbound 2010 Honda Fit operated by Russell traveled left of center and hit a tractor-trailer operated by 51-year-old Michael Alt.

First-responders from Hampshire and Mineral counties responded to the scene along with Trooper First Class D.A. Bowland and Sgt. J.R. Fletcher of the Romney detachment.
