Head On Accident in Hagerstown

On 6-5-13 at about 1821 hours, units from MSP Hagerstown, as well as Fire and Rescue Personnel from Funkstown, Halfway and Community Rescue Services responded to Maryland Rt 65 just North of Summerlin Dr. Hagerstown Washington County, Maryland for a report of a two vehicle personal injury collision. Investigation revealed that a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire driven by Katlyn Leigh Harris, aged 26, of Boonsboro, Maryland was traveling southbound on Rt 65 just north of Summerlin Dr. when she crossed the centerline of the roadway completely into the northbound lane of Rt 65. At this time a 1999 Chevy 1500 pick-up truck driven by Roy Lee Householder, aged 29, of Hagerstown, Maryland was traveling northbound on Rt 65. Householder swerved to his left to avoid Harris however, Harris collided with Householder’s vehicle head on. Both Harris and Householder were transported by ambulance to Meritus Medical Center Hagerstown, Maryland for treatment. Two passengers in Householder’s vehicle were uninjured. Harris was charged with negligent driving and for failure to drive right of center. Additional charges pending. Investigation continuing. Maryland Rt. 65 was shut down for approximately an hour and a half.
