Health Department announces location change for COVID testing

August 27th, 2021 by WCBC Radio

The Allegany County Health Department has announced that, due to a scheduling conflict with the Allegany County Fairgrounds the week of August 30 to September 4, the drive-thru COVID testing clinic will temporarily relocate to the Ali Ghan Shrine Club (13100 Ali Ghan Rd NE, Cumberland, MD) for that week.  Clinic days and hours are unchanged:  Monday from 2 to 7 p.m., Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.  No appointment or insurance card is required.

As testing demand has increased with the rise in new COVID cases, it is strongly recommended that individuals pre-register online before coming to be tested at the drive-thru clinic.Patients can pre-register anytime prior to coming for testing by going to health.maryland.gov/allegany and clicking on the testing link. Once the registration form is submitted, the patient will receive a QR code which can be scanned by clinic staff to quickly access their registration information, reducing wait time at the clinic.  Patients can also access their test results online in an average of three to four days.

Free COVID-19 vaccination clinics continue every Wednesday on the ground floor of the Willowbrook Office Complex, 12501 Willowbrook Road, Cumberland.   From 9 a.m. to noon both the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccines are offered for those age 18 and older.  Then, from 1 to 4 p.m. the Pfizer COVID vaccine is offered for those age 12 and older.  No appointment needed.  Anyone under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

As of August 26, 42.2% of Allegany County residents were fully vaccinated against COVID-19, compared to 61.2% of all Marylanders.
