Hit and Run Driver Arrested

On Friday, at approximately 8:21 a.m., the Cumberland City Police Department responded to the 300 block of Baltimore Avenue in reference to a hit and run.  While the officers were traveling to the location a second complaint of a motor vehicle crash took place on Baltimore Avenue at Decatur Street.  The vehicle ran up on the sidewalk at this location and struck a street sign.  Witnesses advised that the vehicle that crashed on Baltimore Avenue at Decatur Street is also the same vehicle that struck a parked vehicle on Baltimore Avenue.  The operator of the vehicle fled the scene just before the officers arrived to the scene.  The vehicle is a 1998 Chevrolet Malibu.  The vehicle was disabled as a result of the crash and was towed from the scene.  After investigating the operator was identified as Ryanita Chron Perry.  Perry was interviewed at which time she confessed to operating the vehicle and she stated that she left the scene of the crash because she was scared.

Charges:

Failure to return and remain at the scene of an accident and driving without a driver’s license.
