On Friday December 29th at 0315 hrs. the McHenry Barrack received a call relayed from Preston County 911 related to a pedestrian struck on eastbound I-68 at the 3 mile marker prior to the Friendsville exit. It was determined the pedestrian was outside of a disabled tractor trailer. Upon arrival of emergency units it was determined the pedestrian was deceased at the scene. Investigation revealed that the striking vehicle left the scene of the accident and is possibly a 2015 Mercedes Sprinter Van possibly black in color. The striking vehicle should be missing its passenger side mirror and should have damage to the passenger side headlight. The investigation is ongoing. Responding units were Friendsville Fire Department, Northern Garrett Rescue, Garrett County Emergency Services and MD SHA. The victim has now been identified as Christopher Valencia of Jacksonville, FL.
