Hit & Run At Roses Blamed On Baltimore Man

Saturday afternoon at 1:10pm, Officers with the Cumberland Police Dept responded to Roses Plaza located on Queen City Dr in reference to a hit and run complaint.

Upon arrival Officers contacted and employee of a business who advised that they were collecting shopping carts when they were struck by a vehicle. The vehicle then left the scene without stopping. The victim sustained minor injuries and refused medical treatment at the scene.

Officers were issued a description of the suspect vehicle and a broadcast was issued. Officers located the vehicle on Virginia Ave and identified the driver as 30 year old Derrick Jackson of Baltimore. Jackson was issued citations for failing to stop and remain at the scene of an accident involving bodily injury, failure to return and remain at the scene of an accident involving bodily injury, failure of driver in bodily vehicle accident to furnish required ID and license, and failure of vehicle driver involved in an accident to provide required insurance information and released pending trial in District Court.
