February 23rd, 2021 by WCBC Radio

Governor Larry Hogan announced Tuesday that Maryland will open its fourth mass vaccination site and launch a pre-registration system for the state-run mass vaccination sites. The governor began the afternoon briefing by providing an update to the state's coronavirus metrics, saying there continues to be significant improvement in all of the key COVID-19 metrics. Hogan said the state has entered into agreements with the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and Johns Hopkins to more than double the state's surveillance of coronavirus variants to more than 10% of cases. When it comes to vaccines, Hogan said the state has administered 99.6% of all the first doses Maryland has received from the federal government. The state is averaging 29,096 shots per day. The state's fourth mass vaccination site will open no later than March 11 at the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs' stadium, Regency Furniture Stadium, in Charles County in the next couple weeks. Mass vaccination sites will open on the Eastern Shore and in Western Maryland in the coming weeks.
