At a press conference today, Governor-elect Larry Hogan announced three top appointments to his staff. The press conference took place at 45 Calvert Street in downtown Annapolis, home to the Maryland Department of Budget and Management, with all three appointees attending.

Governor-elect Hogan named Craig Williams, director of policy and U.S. government affairs at biotechnology firm Amgen, as his chief of staff. Mr. Williams developed a deep expertise in state health care reform while he was at Amgen, said Govenor-elect Hogan.

Mr. Williams also served as deputy chief of staff to Governor Ehrlich, during which time he coordinated major policy issues for some of the largest state agencies, including the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and the Department of Education.

Next, Governor-elect Hogan announced that Senator Joe Getty, who joined the transition to lead the legislative and policy team, would continue on as the chief legislative officer in the Hogan-Rutherford administration. Senator Getty sat on both the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee as well as the Budget and Tax Committee—the latter role serving him well as he works to “get the state’s financial house in order,” said the Governor-elect.

Finally, Bobby Neall, former member of the House of Delegates, state senator, and county executive, was named a special adviser to the governor on fiscal matters. Senator Neall is widely regarded as the “most experienced and most trusted fiscal mind in our state,” said the Governor-elect.
