Hogan Wants to Create Education Inspector

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan says he still has concerns with how local school systems are using state funding. During this past session of the General Assembly the governor announced that he wanted to create the office of Education Inspector General to oversee the process.  Answering critics who say many of the problems in school systems across the state are rooted in a lack of funding, Hogan has insisted that it’s not a lack of money; it is a lack of accountability. His proposal was to establish an independent office of a state education investigator general. Hogan said the job would be to investigate “complaints on unethical, improper, illegal conduct on matters including procurement, education assets, graduation requirements, grading, education facilities and budgets.”  Hogan said that unfortunately that proposal gained little traction and the problems continue…
