Home invasion leads to two arrests

On 06/20/2019, at approximately 8:30 PM, the Cumberland Police responded to a private residence on Pennsylvania Avenue in Cumberland for a reported home invasion. When Officers arrived they found two victims, a 23 year male and a 25 year old male, both suffering from injuries they reported they received during the incident. The victims stated they were attacked by 4 or 5 individuals, who had entered the residence through a rear window, and were struck numerous times by an unknown object. The victims were transported to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center emergency room for treatment of their injuries.

Investigators with the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) responded to the scene assist in the investigation. The crime scene was processed by an Evidence Collection Technician with the Maryland State Police.

Numerous interviews were conducted, surveillance video was reviewed, and  forensic evidence was collected. As a result, Investigators were able to identify possible suspects. The analysis of the forensic evidence recovered from the scene positively identified two of those suspects.

Arrest warrants were obtained for the two suspects who had been positively identified.

On 07/02/2019 the Cumberland Police arrested 19 year old Elhadgi Malik Fall, Hagerstown, and 30 year old Justin Patrick Powell, Baltimore. Both are being charged with Home Invasion, 1st Degree Burglary, 1st Degree Assault, 2nd Degree Assault, and related charges.

 

            After initial appearances before a District Court Commissioner, both are currently being held without bond at the Allegany County Detention Center, pending their next court appearance.
