UPDATED: Home Invasion Reported At Vale Summit

Update:

On 08/09/2017 at approximately 3:34 PM  Deputies with the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a residence on Vale Summit Road, in the Clarysville section of Allegany County in reference to a armed burglary. Initial reports from Allegany County 911 advised of a male subject in a residence with a gun.

Upon arrival deputies met with the caller and she advised that prior to calling 911 she returned home to find her kitchen door open. As the female went to investigate a white male with a stocky build wearing light colored clothing exited a bedroom at the rear of the residence and confronted her with what she believed to be  a handgun. The female stated that the man forced her into a back bedroom and he then fled the residence on foot.

A search of the residence, out buildings and surrounding area was conducted with the assistance of the Cumberland City Police Department K9 Division and the Maryland State Police yielded no results. 

Detectives from C3I also responded to the scene.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office at 301-777-1586 or C3I at 301-777-0326

Allegany County Sheriff's Deputies, Maryland State Troopers, and a K-9 unit from Cumberland City Police were called to Vale Summit late Wednesday afternoon after receiving a report of a home invasion.

The suspect is described as a heavy set white male, bald with blonde hair, about 5' 7" and possibly in possession with a gun.

Trooper 5 was seen circling the Frostburg area during the 5 PM hour. 

Sheriff Craig Robertson posted the following message on his Facebook page at 8:20 PM:

"The Allegany County Sheriff's Office is actively working a breaking and entering on Vale Summit Road in Clarysville. The homeowner returned home and located a male subject in her residence. Subject produced a handgun and fled the scene in an unknown direction. 

"We have been assisted by the Maryland State Police and C3I. I don't wish to panic anyone but want people to be aware in that area and keep their residence locked and secured. 

"Suspect is an older white male, balding. Anyone with information can contact my office at 301-777-5959 or they may PM me on social media. Thank you all."
