UPDATED: Two Injured On Interstate 70 At Hancock

Location:                    Interstate 70 E/B at the 3 Mile Marker

Vehicle(s):                  #1—2006 White Volvo Tractor Trailer

Driver:                        #1—Timothy Gardner, 38 year old from Louisville, Ky

                                    #2—Solomon E. Lincoln 2nd, 38 year old from Randallstown, Md

Charges:                     Still under investigation

Narrative: On 1/23/17 around 0745 hours, Troopers from the Maryland State Police were dispatched to the report of a personal injury collision on E/B I-70 around the 2 mile marker. While investigating the collision Troopers determined that a white Volvo tractor trailer was traveling E/B when it lost control and ran off the right side of the roadway. The truck tractor then struck a Buick Rendezvous that was disabled on the right shoulder. The collision caused the tractor trailer to jack-knife across all lanes of E/B 70. The driver of the Buick was trapped in the vehicle until Fire and EMS crews were able to extract the male driver out of the vehicle. Both drivers were transported to Meritus Medical Center. E/B I-70 was reopened at approximately 1040. 

INITIAL REPORT:  WCBC News has learned of a motor vehicle accident on I-70 East Bound at the 2 Mile Marker in Hancock between a tractor trailer and a motor vehicle with serious injuries.
