Implementation Of MD All-Payer Health Care Model Could Prove Challenging For Rural Areas

Earlier this week, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan signed a contract with the federal government to enact the state’s unique all-payer health care model, which he said will create incentives to improve care while saving money. The Maryland Model provides incentives across the health system to provide greater coordinated care, expanded patient-care delivery and collaboration of chronic-disease management while improving the quality of care at lower cost to the consumer. While hailed by health care representatives for its emphasis on quality of care over the quantity of care- Speaker of the House Michael Busch said cautioned that implementation may prove challenging for health systems in rural parts of the states such as Allegany and Garrett counties…
