In Dramatic Turn, Speaker Pro Tem Jones Emerges As Apparent Busch Successor

May 1st, 2019 by WCBC Radio

Speaker Pro Tem Adrienne Jones, who earlier dropped out of the race to become Maryland's new House speaker, emerged from Democratic caucus meetings as the nominee on Wednesday.

Delegates met behind closed doors in their party caucuses as they decide who would be elected the next speaker, succeeding Michael E. Busch, who died last month. A floor vote is anticipated Wednesday afternoon.
