Flags in Maryland are flying at half-staff in honor of an Air Force soldier from Maryland who died of injuries he sustained while serving in Asia.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff starting Monday at sunrise in honor of Nathaniel Henry McDavitt. Flags will return to full-staff at sunset on Monday.

The 22-year-old died after extreme winds caused damage to the building in which he was working in Southwest Asia. McDavitt, who was from Glen Burnie, was serving in southwest Asia as part of the fight against the Islamic State group.

McDavitt's funeral Mass is being held Monday in Severna Park. He will be buried in Crownsville.
