Inmate Death in Hagerstown Being Investigated as Homicide

Maryland State Police are investigating the death of a 26-year-old inmate at the Maryland Correctional Institution in Hagerstown as a possible homicide. The victim, who was serving seven years for theft, was found lifeless in his cell at about 10:45 p.m. on Monday, October 10, 2016. A 35-year-old suspect serving 30 years for drug possession and armed robbery was apprehended. The victim, whose name is not being released pending notification of the next of kin, suffered a stab wound and bruises. As with all suspected homicides in state prisons, Maryland State Police are investigating the death.
