February 18th, 2014 by WCBC Radio

Corgiss Ross, an inmate at the Western Correctional Institution, was convicted of First-Degree Murder for the death of Jerod Pridget, a fellow inmate at the correctional facility this morning in Allegany County Circuit Court.   Judge Tim Finan sentenced Ross to a sentence of life consecutive to the 10 year sentence which brought him into the correctional system.

On the morning of November 26, 2012, Pridget, who shared a cell at the prison with Ross, was found bleeding with massive head injuries in his cell.  Despite medical evacuation to the University of Maryland’s Shock Trauma Unit, Jerod Pridget perished.  The investigation revealed that Ross had stomped Pridget to death in the cell they shared together.

The case was investigated by the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit, and the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services.  The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Gar Robbins.  Mr. Ross chose to represent himself.
