Institute For Justice Meets With Rolling Mills Residents

Although a nationally renowned legal group specializing in eminent domain cases has met with residents of the Rolling Mill district- a spokesman for the Cumberland Economic Development Corporation points out that eminent domain is an issue that has never been discussed. Rolling Mill property owners are being asked to sell their homes so the area can be transformed into a commercial development. The Cumberland Times News reports the Institute for Justice is a nonprofit libertarian public-interest law firm based in Arlington, Virginia, which has helped litigate five eminent domain cases that reached the U.S. Supreme Court, winning four. Representatives of the institute gave a presentation to the Rolling Mill residents at a meeting Monday evening in the community room at Martin's Supermarket.  CEDC executive director Shawn Hershberger tells WCBC News that he doesn’t see this latest development delaying the project…
