Interim Superintendent Announces Administrative Staffing Appointments

October 11th, 2019 by WCBC Radio

Interim Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Jeffrey Blank, has announced two administrative staffing appointments effectively immediately. Mr. Joseph Brewer will assume the role of Supervisor of Career and Technology Education Programs and Library Media, and Mr. Christopher Cassell will fill the vacancy left by Brewer as the Interim Assistant Principal at Fort Hill High School.

Mr. Brewer received his Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and his Master’s degree in Administration and Supervision, both from Frostburg State University. He began his career in Allegany County Public Schools in 2000 as a Spanish teacher at several schools, and he most recently held the role of Assistant Principal at Fort Hill.

“I am very excited to serve in this new role in Career Technology Education and Library Media,” said Brewer. “I look forward to partnering with teachers, staff, and the business community to ensure that our students are equipped with the necessary skills to be successful in the workplace and beyond.”

Mr. Cassell earned his Bachelor’s degree in Science and his Master’s degree in Administration and Supervision, also both from FSU. He began his tenure in ACPS in 1998 as a science teacher, and he has most recently assumed the role of Assistant Principal at Washington Middle School.

“I am very excited for the opportunity to be a part of the staff at Fort Hill High School once again,” said Cassell. “I am eager to help the students there reach their potential and achieve their goals.” He continued, “For years, Fort Hill has been an institution rich in pride and excellence. I am looking forward to doing my part by contributing to that long-standing tradition.”

The vacancy left by Cassell at Washington Middle School will be filled and announced in the near future.

Suddenly Mr. Blank is again the interim superintendent. It was just the other day that he was named permanent superintendent.

This from the public comment section at the last board meeting:

Before anyone on the board mentioned filling the superintendent position at Tuesday’s school board meeting, two constituents, and supporters of Bohn, Foote and Farrell, during public comment period said they’d like to see Blank have the job.

Allegany County Farm Bureau President T.R. Robinette used a livestock breeding scenario to show his support for Blank.

“If he services all my cows … and I am satisfied with that bull, then I keep that bull,” he said. “So far Mr. Blank has done a very good job.”

So I guess this means that Mr. Blank has been servicing all of Mr. Robinette’s cows?
