Job Fair aimed at former CSX workers

Allegany County Government, the Cumberland Economic Development Corporation (CEDC), Allegany College of Maryland, Western Maryland Consortium and local representatives from the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation announced an upcoming job fair for those seeking employment, and to further provide opportunities for former employees of CSX. The job fair will be held in the gymnasium of Allegany College of Maryland’s Cumberland campus on Thursday, June 14, 2018 from 9 AM to 12 PM. The job fair is open to all Allegany County residents looking for employment opportunities from many of the area’s top employers. These employers include Hunter Douglas, Schroeder Industries, First Energy Corporation and many others. 

Many employers attending the event have also identified immediate openings for former CSX employees. Additionally, resume experts from the Professional Outplacement Assistance Center will be on hand from 8 AM to 12 PM to help these workers who need assistance in crafting their resumes. These experts from the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation’s Laurel, Maryland office have worked with thousands of job seekers from a wide range of professional occupations.

While the event is open and free to all, those affected by the recent action taken by CSX are encouraged to contact the Allegany County American Job Center located at 138 Baltimore Street, Suite 102, Cumberland by calling 301-777-1221. Staff is available to connect former CSX employees with those companies posting immediate openings.
