Allegany College of Maryland and the American Job Center of Allegany County will partner to sponsor the largest local job fair event of the year this Thursday, Oct. 13 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Allegany College gym. The job fair is free and open to the public. Free shuttle bus transportation from downtown Cumberland will be provided every 30 minutes beginning at 8:30 a.m. and continuing throughout the event. The bus will pick up passengers near the Rent-A-Center at Cumberland Plaza, Queen City Drive. The 50-plus businesses participating in the job fair will be looking to fill more than 500 full-time and part-time positions in a variety of fields, including customer service, health care, production and warehousing. Allegany County Commissioner Bill Valentine says he gets frustrated when he hears people say there are no good jobs in the area. He says this job fair proves otherwise…
