Johns Hopkins Drops In Rankings

July 17th, 2012 by WCBC Radio

WBAL reports Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore and Massachusetts General of Boston have swapped places.

Mass General was number two last year according to the annual survey by U.S. News and World Report, which is considered one of the best and most thorough study on the subject.

The difference really boiled down to one point in specialty areas. Massachusetts General had 16 number one specialties to Hopkins' 15.

The two hospitals were actually tied in points scored, with 30 apiece.

Johns Hopkins has been rated number one for almost every year since the magazine started listing the best of the best in 1991.

The University of Maryland is ranked number 2 in Maryland and ranked nationally in 9 specialty areas
