Joseph V. Carter Passes

Joseph V. Carter has passed away Wednesday at the age of 93. Carter spent 42 years in education in varierty of roles including teacher, coach and principal. He was principal at Beall Jr/Sr High School and Braddock Middle School. His son Joseph W. Carter is the principal at Fort Hill High School.

Friends will be received on Friday, June 28, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Virginia Avenue, Cumberland. A Christian Wake service will be conducted at the funeral home at 8:45 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Mt. Savage, on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 11 A.M. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Cemetery, Mt. Savage. Military honors will be accorded at the gravesite by Ft. Cumberland Post 13 Honor Guard.

    Mr. Carter’s son Joseph W. Carter is not the principal at FH. He retired.
