Judge To Run For Commissioner’s Seat

Judge of Orphans Court Mark Widmyer became the fourth candidate on file seeking a seat as an Allegany County Commissioner. Widmyer is the third republican to enter the race, joining incumbents Bill Valentine and Creade Brodie Jr. Former Board of Education member Tom Striplin is the lone democrat on file. Current County Commissioners President Mike McKay, a republican, had originally filed to seek re-election- but withdrew last month in order to pursue House of Delegates District 1-C seat that will be vacated by Leroy Myers. The decision not to run by Myers has had a domino effect, as Widmyer tells WCBC News that it is only after McKay decided to pursue the state office that he made the choice to run for the county seat…
