The Allegany County Health Department reports that 15,185 Allegany County residents have received their first dose of a two-dose vaccine against COVID-19 (21.6% of the population), with 9,381 of those individuals now fully vaccinated with their second dose (13.3% of the population).  Additionally, 489 Allegany County residents have received the single dose Janssen vaccine (0.7%).

By comparison, the state reported that 24.6% of all Marylanders had received their first dose of a two-dose vaccine, with 12.5% having had both doses and an additional 1.0% vaccinated with the single dose vaccine.

On Tuesday, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan announced that the state is now in Phase 2A of the vaccination rollout, which makes Marylanders age 60 and older eligible for a COVID vaccine.  On March 25, the state will also be opening a mass vaccination site to serve western Maryland, located at the Hagerstown Premium Outlets.  Marylanders can sign up for a vaccine at that site by going to or by calling 1-855-MD-GOVAX (1-855-634-6829).

Allegany County residents who have not signed up to be contacted by either the Allegany County Health Department or UPMC Western Maryland when vaccine is available for them locally can do so by completing the Vaccine Interest Form at
