On 5/20/2021 at approximately 4:31pm, the Maryland State Police Cumberland Barrack responded to a car versus pedestrian collision on MD 36 n/o Richfield Avenue. A juvenile pedestrian was attempting to cross MD 36 from the northbound shoulder of MD 36 to enter a dance studio located on the southbound side of Rt 36. After crossing the northbound lane, the juvenile entered the southbound lane directly in front of a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Kathleen Beal, of Meyersdale, PA. After the collision, the juvenile was transported to UPMC Western Maryland with life-threatening injuries. Mrs. Beal immediately stopped on scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Maryland State Police Crash Team.
