Kenneth Alkire Passes Away

Kenneth Edward Alkire, 62, of Cresaptown passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2015, at home.

Born in Westernport, MD on May 20, 1953, he was the son of William O. and Erma Jean (Raines) Alkire of Cumberland.  Kenny was preceded in death by a sister, Loi Lou Ware, and a brother- in-law, John M. Alkire. 

Kenny graduated from Bruce High School class of 1971.  Following graduation, Kenny was employed by Browning’s, became manager of the Shop and Save Super Market in Frostburg.  Kenny later became the owner and operator of Lakeside Images in LaVale and Garrett County.

Kenny was a member and Trustee of the Cresaptown Eagle #2883.  He belonged to the Kemp Lodge #154 AF & AM in Mt. Savage, MD, and he was a member of the Rawlings United Methodist Church.  He was also an avid hunter and golfer.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife Kim (Ort) Alkire; three sons, Erick R. Alkire and wife Jen, Cincinati, OH, Corey E. Alkire and Jen, Clear Spring, MD, K. Tyler Alkire and Tiffanie Williams, Cresaptown; two daughters, Jennifer R. Rollins and husband Jason, Frostburg, and Meredith A. Alkire, Clermont, FL; nine Grandchildren, Mason, Rilee, Abigail, Emily, Callie, Jase, Kaylien,  Trinitie, and Lowen; two brothers, Lester Alkire and wife Suzanne, Hagerstown, and Billy Alkire and wife Susan, Cresaptown; a sister Debra McElvie and husband Bill, Bel Air, Cumberland; Sisters-in-law, Karen Ort, Ft. Myers, FL, Marlee Ort and husband Larry Ulm, Stringtown, PA, and  Cherie Ort, Grantsville; best friend, Tim Stevens, Frostburg.  Kenny is also survived by several nieces and nephews. 

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Highway,  Cresaptown, on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M.  A Memorial Service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. by the Cresaptown Eagles.  Funeral Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, September 24, 2015, at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Dr. Gary Trail officiating.  Family will received friends one hour prior to the service.   Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park.
