Lack of Leadership and Direction Main Concern at Canal Place

January 17th, 2012 by WCBC Radio

With a growing sentiment that new leadership may be needed at Canal Place- Executive Director Renee Bone has submitted a letter of resignation. The cancellation of the December meeting  due to the lack of a quorum capped off a less than stellar year for the Canal Place and Preservation Authority. One elected official, who asked to remain anonymous told WCBC News that he felt there seemed to be no clear direction and a lack of leadership in the past few years at Canal Place. In addition, at the board’s November meeting- a number of shop owners expressed concern with the growing number of vacancies. Andy Vick, chairman of the Canal Place Board declined to comment specifically on Bone’s decision to leave or what may have contributed it it- saying only that he hopes to know more following today’s (Tuesday’s) closed session meeting of the full board to discuss the matter.
