Legislators Join AFSCME To Fight Cut Of Cost Of Living Raises

Maryland House Speaker Michael Busch and other Democrats are joining the state's largest employee union to fight the elimination the 2-percent cost of living raises in the governor's budget. Busch joined AFSCME members at a news conference in Annapolis and said Democrats will also oppose Hogan's proposal to cut state agency budgets by 2-percent across the board.  AFSCME Council 3 President Patrick Moran told reporters that strategy is like "trimming your nails with an axe." Busch said Democrats will seek alternatives to the Hogan cuts, calling it unfair to balance the budget at the expense of state employees…
